Dian K. Maine

Dian K. Maine, 69, of Morning Sun, died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. The daughter of Cecil and Mary Hamilton Spitznogle, she was born June 28, 1940 at home near Wapello. On June 19, 1960 she married Leonard A. Maine; they later divorced.

She was a graduate of the Wapello High School, class in 1958.

She was a member of the Morning Sun United Methodist church and the Wapello V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She owned and operated several businesses in Wapello and Morning Sun.

Survivors include; two daughters, Lynette Moor and Marianne Giese and husband Aaron both of Morning Sun; one son, Steven Maine and wife Amy of West Liberty; seven grandchildren, Candace, Christine, Valerie, Nathan, Kyle, Austin, and Brittany; and one great-granddaughter, Taegen; one sister, Shirley Foor of Morning Sun.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Virginia Spitznogle.

According to he wishes, cremation will be accorded.

Friends may sign the register on Thursday from 2-7:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, where the family will meet with friends from 5-7:00 p.m.

The memorial service will be Friday, November 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Morning Sun United Methodist Church with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman and Rev. Scott Smith officiating.

Internment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun.

A memorial has been established for the Morning Sun United Methodist Church.
