Mary Josephine “Jo” Webb, 93, west Liberty, Iowa, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Methodist Medical center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the First Church United in West Liberty with Pastor Marion Hart officiating. Visitation was held 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.

Memorials may be made to the First Church United, 1100 North Calhoun St., West Liberty, Iowa, 52776 and Camp Wyoming, 9106 42nd Ave, Wyoming, Iowa, 52362.

She was born March 2, 1916, in Oakville, Iowa, the daughter of Ed and Matilda Torbert Ohlwein. She was a graduate of Wapello Consolidated High School in 1933. On November 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to William Webb.

She was a graduate of Burlington School of Nursing in 1937 and spent many years practicing her profession. She was head nurse at Hawker Nursing Home in West Liberty from 1961 – 1974 when it was closed. She later worked part time as an office clerk and bookkeeper at Best Western Motel from 1974 – 1983 when she retired.

Since her retirement she has enjoyed working for her church, volunteering, and helping out wherever and whenever there was a need.

She was a member of the First Church United, American Legion Auxiliary, 50+year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Fortnightly Literary Club. She had served various offices in each organization; Past Matron of O.E.S., Past President of American Legion Auxiliary, and Past President of Muscatine County American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by two children, Richard (Joyce) Webb of Clive, Iowa, and Patricia Webb of Littleton, Colorado; two grandchildren, Jessica and Alex; and one sister, Nola Belle Miner of Seaford, Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William in 1986, and two sisters, Faye and Lola.
