POPULAR YOUNG LADY DIES IN WAPELLO

Miss Louise Barnes Expires After Short Illness.

WAS BURIED AT IOWA CITY

Her Death Was Caused By Meningitis - She Had Been a Popular Clerk For Several Years and the Whole Community Mourns Her Untimely Death - Interment Took Place at Iowa City.

This community was both shocked and grieved at the announcement of the death of Miss Louise Barnes, which occurred at 5:45 o'clock Monday morning after a ten days' illness with what was pronounced as pneumonococcus, a form of meningitis. She had been complaining for some time of not feeling well, but kept at her work as clerk in the E.C. Castle store until forced to take to her bed, when the malady that caused her death developed rapidly and could not be arrested though every effort was exerted known to medicine.

The deceased was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Barnes, and her untimely death has cast a dark pall, not only over the home, but the entire community which knew and admired her for her many womanly virtues. She had a kind, friendly nature which made her popular with all whom she came in contact. Her employment for several years as clerk in the Thomas and Castle stores gave her a large acquaintance who mourn with the family and will ever cherish her memory.

Antoinette Louise Barnes was born in Iowa City, Iowa, Dec. 28, 1891, being 25 years, 1 month, and 28 days of age at the time of death. She leaves besides her parents, one brother Marion, and a sister, Josephine. Socially she was affiliated with the Eastern Star order and the Rebekah lodge, in which she took a prominent and active part and will be greatly missed.

The funeral services were held from the home at 12:45 Tuesday, after which the remains were taken on the 1:49 train to Iowa City for interment in the family lot.

The services were largely attended and a profusion of beautiful flowers from friends attested the high esteem in which she was held in the community.
