Sarah Anne Chamberlin was born Nov. 8, 1839, in Grandview, Louisa county, Iowa and died Nov. 9, 1916, at her home in Grandview, age 77 years, 1 day. Mrs. Chamberlain has always been a resident of Louisa county spending but two winters out of the county at which time she was in school at which time she was in school at the State University in Iowa City. She lived on the strip of land which her father bought when he first came to Iowa in the year 1836, until her husband H.B. Chamberlain died and then she moved to Grandview, which was in the year 1906.
Mrs. Chamberlain has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church ever since she was married and has been a staunch and loyal supporter of that faith ever since. Her final request was that her funeral be preached in the M.E. church and that three of her favorite hymns be sung. "Will There be any Stars in My Crown," "Jesus Lover of My Soul," and "The Road Leads Home." She leaves to mourn their loss a brother, many nieces and nephews and a host of neighbors and friends.
The funeral services were conducted by the pastor of her church, Rev. Emil B. Frye and interment was made in the Grandview cemetery.
