DEATH COMES AFTER 8 MONTHS' ILLNESS

WILMOT CONKLING DIES AT HOME ON SIEGEL STREET

Pioneer Traveling Man to be Buried Tuesday Afternoon - Lived Here 46 years.

Wilmot S. Conkling, 961 Siegel street, pioneer traveling man of Muscatine, died at his late residence at 6 o'clock yesterday evening after an illness of eight months.

Mr. Conkling was born February 11, 1861, at Chester, New York. Nine years later he came west with his parents and for the last forty-six years has been a resident of Louisa and Muscatine counties. For the last 20 years, Mr. Conkling has been a traveling salesman in the employ of the Schner & Block company of this city, but on account of his failing health, he was forced to retire last January.

The deceased was married to Bertha M. Smeenk on September 23, 1893. Besides his wife, five children live to survive him. They are J. Stuart, Helen, Ronald, Ruth and Hallie Conkling of this city. He is also survived by a half sister and three half brothers, all of who reside in New York.

Funeral services over the body of the deceased will be held at Greenwood chapel at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be made in Greenwood cemetery.
