FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT DIES

WILLIAM P. HUMMEL PASSED AWAY AT DAVENPORT

Remains Are to Be Taken to Grandview For Interment - Received His Education Here.

Many Muscatine people will be grieved to learn of the death of Wm. P. Hummel, which occurred at 8:45 o'clock last evening at the home of his mother, Mrs. Louisa Hummel at Davenport, following an extended illness. The decedent was well known in both Muscatine and Grandview. He was born at the latter place on October 28, 1878 and received his education in the Muscatine schools. He moved to Davenport in 1892, accepting a position as salesman with the Seig Iron company. He was quite successful in his business activities being a director in the firm at the time of his death. He was also sales manager for a large section of Iowa.

He was prominently identified with the Masonic fraternity, being a member of Trinity Lodge No. 208. He was also affiliated with the United Commercial Travelers.

His death is mourned by his mother, three half brothers, Harry, Richard and Charles Englehart of Davenport and three brothers, Howard C. Hummel of Fruitland, George and Louis Hummel of Red Cloud, Neb.

The funeral will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning at the family residence here after which the remains will be taken to Grandview for interment.
