The Wapello Republican Thursday, June 17, 1915 Wapello, Iowa

David Madsion Perkins, son of Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Perkins, was born in Pleasant Grove, Iowa, Sept. 22, 1867, and passed away at this home here in Wapello, June 12, 1915, aged 47 years, 8 months, and 20 days.

He was married September 18, 1901, to Mary E. Allen, who remains to mourn his death. During January, 1914, he took sick but did not commence to doctor till in March. His disease was of such a nature as to exclude all hope of recovery from the first, but with fortitude and patience he bore his suffering. His suffering became so great at the last that he had to be kept under the influence of opiates. At 7:20 Saturday morning without a struggle he quietly fell asleep.

Last November he accepted Christ as his Savior, and requested Rev. McBlain to baptize him and to receive him into the church, which was done. He gave evidence that he was saved, by his life and conversation.

He leaves, besides his wife, his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Perkins, three brothers, James of Toolsboro, Marsh of New London, and Alexander of Coolidge, Kansas, and one sister, Mrs. Jessie Westfall of Davenport, Iowa.

The funeral Services were held in the First Methodist church on Sunday at 2 p.m., where a large crowd gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. Rev. McBlain preached the sermon from Job 19:25-27. The interment was in Wapello cemetery. "Rest friend, thy warfare over".

Please note: his father was Clayborne/Claiborne Perkins. His mother was Elizabeth Hudson, daughter of Thomas and Mary Hudson.
