Little Kenneth Roy McGill was born near Grandview,Iowa, November 29th, 1911. The death angel carried him away from his home near Muscatine, Iowa, March 27th, 1916, aged five years, three months and twenty-seven days. He was the son of Roy L. and Hortense (Odell) McGill.

He leaves, besides his parents, three brothers and three sister; Oral, Lawrence, Daryl Durwood, and Twila, Cleda and Frances; also a large number of near relatives and a host of friends.

He was a most beautiful, winsome child, loved by all who knew him. But God knew it and wanted another beautiful angel and at half past ten Monday night the death angel came and carried him home.

He was a patient sufferer with pneumonia for five days. All that loving hands and faithful friends could do was to no avail and his little spirit took its flight.

The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hardman in Grandview, March 29th, 1916, at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. A.G. Washington. The beautiful form, wasted by the ravage of the disease, was laid in its final resting place in the Grandview cemetery.

The pall bearers were his four uncles, Alpha, Reuben, Jesse McGill and Frank Odell.

Only a few days before his sickness he had a beautiful dream or vision of heaven. He told his mamma the following morning how he had climbed the golden stairs to heaven; how bright and beautiful all things were and begged of her to go with him and he would show her the way.

He has climed the golden stairs and with his going has cast a shadow of deep gloom over the home and entire community.
