Sarah E. Stineman was born in Berlin, Ohio, May 12, 1845, and died at her home in Grandview, April 15, 1906, aged 60 years, 11 months and 3 days. On January 18, 1870, she was united in marriage with Herman Gast and to this union were born four children two sons and two daughters. Besides her husband and four children she leaves one brother and two sisters and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her departure. She became a Christian in early life uniting with the United Evangelical church when but 14 years of age. She continued a faithful member of this church until her death. She will be greatly missed from the home circle as she delighted in the duties of her family and in doing good unto all who were in need. She found much consolation in the verses of John 14, "Let not your heart be troubled," "In my Father's house are many mansions," "I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you, unto myself." The funeral was held at the United Evangelical Monday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. J.V. Hummell.
