MORNING SUN MAN KILLED IN AUTO ACCIDENT

A Mornnig Sun man was killed as a result of a one vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy 78 and the Mt. Union blacktop west of Morning Sun, Sunday morning Feb 5, 1995.

Kenneth Coberly, 69, was killed and his wife Garnet Sue Coberly, 68, was seriously injured when Coberly failed to stop at a "T" intersection. The truck left the roadway and dropped off headon into a field. Kenneth Coberly was pronounced dead at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. Garnet Coberly was listed in critical condition Sunday at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

The couple was on their way to Iowa city to be with their daughter who was in premature labor.

Kenneth Juil Coberley, 69, of 21038 260th St., Morning Sun, died at 7:52 a.m. Sunday, February 5, 1995 at the Henry County Health Center from injuries received in an auto accident two miles north of Mount Union.

He was born June 4, 1925 in Davies County, MO, the son of Christopher L. and Bertha M. Bolander Coberley. He married Garnet Bozarth July 5, 1944 at Pleasant Grove, IA.

He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. He was a retired electrician and owned and operated a trucking company for four years.

He was a member of the Yarmouth Baptist church and the IBEW local 13. He served in the Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, three sons; Wade Coberley of Long Grove, IA, Doug Coberley of Kissimmee, FL, Craig Coberley of Cassville, MO, three daughters; Sherry Miller of Valpariso, IN, Terry Reid of Round Lake, IL, Juil Heying of Morning sun, two brothers; J.L. Coberley of Mount Pleasant and Aven Coberley of New London, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Hobert, Claude and Clell.

Funeral services for Mr. Coberley will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Craig Johnson, officiating. Interment will be held in Trinity Cemetery, Mount Union with Military rites provided by the Veterans of Foreign War, Post #7641. Friends may call after noon on Wednesday at Elliott Chapel with the family receiving friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established in honor of Mr. Coberley.
