William L. 'Bill' Minnis, age 73, of Morning Sun, Ia, died Sunday morning, September 25, 1994 at the Morning Sun Care Center.

He was born January 30, 1921, the son of Oscar Walter and Eunice Crawford Minnis. On July 4, 1941 he married Martha L. Wells at Memphis, Mo.

He was a graduate of Morning Sun High School, an Army veteran of WW-II, and was a former owner of the Morning Sun Grain. He was a charter member of Indian Hills Golf and Country Club, was a former charter member of the Morning Sun Lions, and was a former member of the American Legion Hays-Scott Post #112 of Morning Sun.

Survivors include his wife, 'Marth'; three sons, Larry and Mark both of Morning Sun, and Mike of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Enida Ivins of Morning Sun and Wanda Schmidt of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, Cleon and Jim.

The funeral service for W.L. 'Bill' Minnis was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 1994 at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Morning Sun, with Rev. Tom Zeleny officiating. Geneva Samuels provided the organ music. The casket bearers included Jim Johnson, Robert Nichols Jr., Bob Pogemiller, Bob Gabeline, Philip Delzell and Tom Griffin. Burial followed at the Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun, with military rites by the Hays-Scott Post #112 American Legion of Morning Sun.

A memorial fund has been established. The family met with friends Monday evening at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Morning Sun.
