Martha Smylie Kochendorfer, age 88, died January 30, 1996 in Palo Alto, California.

She was born in Columbus Junction, Iowa to Robert and Mabel Duncan Smylie on October 6, 1907. Martha was a graduate of Columbus Junction High School and the University of Iowa. She was a school instructor in the Columbus Community, Illinois and California.

She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Ridler of Rosewell, New Mexico, and Nancy Triebes of San Jose, California. There are two grandsons and a granddaughter. Also surviving is one brother, F.D. Smylie, Columbus Junction, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Robert B. Smylie.

A memorial service will be held in Columbus Junction at a later date.
