HELEN D. STOTT

Helen Darlene Stott, age 60, of Morning Sun, and formerly of Wapello, Iowa, died Saturday evening, September 17, 1994 at the Burlington Medical Center, Burlington. The daughter of Donald J. and Helen L. Partington Gillette, she was born April 24, 1934 at Wapello. She married Louis S. “Gunner” Stott on September 11, 1950 at Wapello. She had attended the Wapello schools, was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Wapello, the American Legion Auxiliary of Morning Sun, and the Royal Neighbors of America. She enjoyed reading.

Her family includes her husband; parents, “Dutch” and Helen Gillette residing at the Morning Sun Care Center; children, Stanley Stott of Muscatine, Evelyn Moore of Nichols, Joyce Oberman of LeClaire, Jerry Stott of Muscatine; Steven who died in 1979; Timothy Stott of Scott Air Base at Belleville, IL, Amy Kaalberg of Nichols; and Jason Stott of Wapello; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandson; five sisters, Peggy Phillips of Fort Meyers, FL, Anna Bronsink of Sparta, MI, Doris Crouch of Yarmouth, Shirley Lott of Wapello, and Linda Giese of Morning Sun; five brothers, Donald D. Gillette of Tampa, FL, Robert “Bob” Gillette of Clinton, Keith Gillette, Terry Gillette and Lyle Gillette, all of Wapello; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Darlene Stott was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 1994 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with Rev. Chris Ebbers officiating. Bev Parsons provided the organ music and the casket bearers were Justin Giese, Allen Giese, Zac Stott, Sam Stott, Chad Oberman, Tracy Lott, Keith Trafton, and Lyle Gillette. Burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery.

The family met with friends Tuesday evening at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. A Memorial Fund has been established.
