Funeral services for 83 year old William R. Johnson, Sr. of Columbus Junction were held on Thursday, December 23, 1993, at 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa, with Rev. Wally Paige officiating. Bill died on, Sunday, December 19, 1993, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City after an extended illness. A memorial has been established. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.

William Ranson Johnson, Sr was born on January 24, 1910, in Muscatine County to Charles and Anna L. Fuhr. Bill married Frances Dorothy Kaalberg on May 28, 1934, in Wapello, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 25, 1992. Bill was a farmer in the area retiring in 1980. Bill was a member of the Muscatine Moose Lodge and the Muscatine Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Griggs, Columbus Junction, two sons, William R. Johnson, Jr. of Columbus Junction and Robert, of Washington. There are 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sister. Mrs. Edith Weber, and Mrs. Louise Fry, both of Grandview, Iowa.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Wife, a granddaughter, Jeannie K. Johnson, four brothers, Buril, Harvey, Jim, Marion and a sister, Phobe Yoder.
