Stanley Creston Barrick, 63, Wapello, died Monday evening at the Burlington Medical Center following an extended illness.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Richard Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Letts Cemetery. Visitation is from 7 to 8:30 this evening at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, where a memorial fund has been established.

The son of Roland and Edith Matthews, he was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Morning Sun.

His marriage to D. Marilyn Schafer took place Aug. 22, 1949, in Hashua. He was a World War II veteran and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the VFW No. 5166 and the Iowa Firemen's association. He had been a volunteer for the Wapello Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, having served as chief for three years. After his retirement from the fire department, he had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill and Bob, both of Wapello; two grandchildren; his father of Wapello; four brothers, Lester of Wapello, Sidney of Manchester, Hoyt of Osage and Dalford of Muscatine; and two sisters, Inger Gibson of Wayland and Janette Humphrey of Wapello. He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister.
