Leonard Loren Wiele, 42, a member of the Iowa Highway Patrol for the past 17 years, died Wednesday, March 24 at his home in Mt. Pleasant. He worked with District 13, with headquarters in Mt. Pleasant.

Born March 3, 1929 at Grandview, he was the son of Cecil and Frances Buster Wiele. On may 30, 1948 he was married to Kay Yakle at Eliza, Ill. He was a member of Clinton Lodge No. 15, AF and AM at Fairfield.

Surviving are the widow, Kay of Mt. Pleasant; his parents Cecil and Frances Wiele of Wapello; son, Mark at home; three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Rudolph, Mt. Pleasant and Teresa and Lauren Ann, at home; one granddaughter and a brother, Neil Wiele of Wapello. A daughter, Wendy Kay, preceded him in death.

Last rites were held Saturday, March 27 at the Grandview Community Church, with the Rev. Lawrence Bishop officiating. Mrs. Phyllis McCulley was at the organ and the flowers were cared for by Diane Wiele, Kathy Bohling, Christy Stineman, Susan Krahl and Sharolyn Pretz.

Bearers were Calvin Dorsett, Robert Porter, William Pasut, Donald Rupper, M.W. (Jack) Beaman and Jerald Barnes.

Members of District 13 Iowa Highway Patrol at Mt. Pleasant were honorary bearers. Interment was in the Grandview Cemetery.
