HELEN K. HARTSOCK
Helen Karen Hartsock, age 87, of Wapello, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas W. and Sadie Daily Morgan was born August 18, 1906, at Louisa Center, Louisa County, Iowa. She lived most of her life in the same house where she was born. She departed for her heavenly home August 31, 1993 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.

On July 14, 1925 she was united in marriage with Clayton Hartsock at Muscatine, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1975. She was a member of the Louisa Center Baptist Church and the Louisa County Historical Society. She was a homemaker and had also worked at a button factory in Columbus Junction and also as a nurse’s aide at various nursing homes. She was a graduate of the Columbus Junction High School in 1925.

She is survived by one son, Dean Hartsock and wife Marian of Burlington; one daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Brockway and husband Ronald of Wapello; one grandson, Dean Brockway; four granddaughters, Pamela Jackson, Kimberly Bush, Kylene Tillotson, and Kambra McAlister; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Hartsock of Wapello. She leaves also many other dearly loved relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clayton; and one great-grandson.

The funeral service for Karen Hartsock was held at 3:30 P.M. on Friday, September 3, 1993, at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Moon officiating. Music was provided by Bev Parsons as organist and Gary Bausch singing “The Old Rugged Cross”. The casket bearers were Ron Jackson, Nick Jackson, Dean Brockway, Mike Bush, Danny Tillotson, and Mick McAlister. Flowers were cared for by Vonnie Carlson and Cheri Snyder. Burial followed at the Wapello cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

The family met with friends Thursday evening at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.
