Memorial services for Millard F. "Mike" Hicklin, who died July 4, 1986, were conducted at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello at 3 p.m. Monday, July 7. Chaplain Richard Gilbert officiated.

Phyllis McCulley was organist.

Honorary pallbearers were W.O. Weaver, Howard Winder, Gordon Stone, Casey Conavan, E.A. Hicklin and Wm. L. Matthews.

Mr. Hicklin was born August 28, 1908 to Edwin and Millicent Reichley Hicklin in Wapello, Iowa. He attended Wapello Public Schools, the University of Iowa, graduated from Drake University Law School in 1933, and married Cleora Jackson in 1933.

Mr. Hicklin served in the Navy in World War II. He served in the Iowa Legislature as Representative from Louisa County for four terms and one special session. A law practicioner in Wapello for 17 years, he moved to Des Moines where he was secretary-treasurer for the Iowa Railway Committee until he retired in 1971 moving back to Wapello where he served as Zoning Administrator for the city of Wapello, Louisa County Mental Health Referee and Inheritance Tax Appraiser.

Mr. Hicklin was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, Louisa County Bar Associaton, Iowa Pioneer Lawmakers, Kaaba Shrine, Davenport Consistory KCCH, Wapello Lodge No. 5 A.F. & A.M., and American Legion.

He is pre deceased by his parents, three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife Cleora; his son Thomas R. of Denver, Colorado; his daughter Mary Margaret Morris of Des Moines; two granddaughters, Cortney and Amanda; and one grandson, James. He is also survived by four sisters, Millicent Winter, Wapello, Mary Knobbe, Des Moines, Jean Winter, Wapello, and Catherine Romy of Indianapolis, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Hicklin-Winter Scholarship Fund, State Bank of Wapello, and the YMCA Boys Home, Johnston, Iowa.
