Martha Rosina Hiller, age 77, of Wapello, Iowa, died Friday afternoon, December 13, 1991 at her home in Wapello.

She was born September 28, 1914 at Columbus Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Scott and Maude George Blankenhorn. She married Keith B. Hiller on May 27, 1939 at the home of her parents in rural Columbus Junction.

She was a graduate of Columbus Community High School and also attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She was then a teacher in the Louisa County Country School System and then taught at Wyman School. Along with being a homemaker, she worked for 20 years at the Wapello Sale Barn Cafe.

Martha Hiller was an active member of the Wapello United Methodist Church incliding being a Sunday School teacher and also holding offices in the United Methodist Women both locally and in the district. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #257 of Wapello, the Louisa County Farm Bureau Women, the Oakland Socal Club, the Otter Creek Women's Club, the Louisa County Health Board, and for several years active as 4-H Club Leader.

Survivors include her husband, Keith; four children, Dr. Larry K. Hiller of Pullman, Washington, Shirley M. Eyers of Montrose, Iowa, Sandra K. Lippincott of Ft. Madison, Iowa, and Steven L. Hiller of Chanhassen, Minnesota; thirteen grnadchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Bennett of Columbus Junction and Mary Darlene Burgraff of West Des Moines, Iowa; one brother, Max Blankenhorn of Mesa, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Forrest Blankenhorn.

Funeral service for Martha Hiller was held at the United Methodist Church at Wapello at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 1991. Rev. Ed Philgreen officiated. Music was provided by Elsie Stephens as organist.

Casket bearers included Howard Gieselman, Warren Kemper, Jack Samuels, Lee Harris, John Hayes and Jim Justice. Flower attendants were Shirley Kemper and Shirley Samuels.

Honorary attendants were Gib Marshall, Gene Hamilton, Dorothy Gieselman, Ruth Fletcher, Pauline Humiston, Lois Hamilton and Exxa Harris.

The burial followed at Parsons Cemetery.

An Order of Eastern Star service was held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. The family met with friends following the O.E.S. service.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the United Methodist Church at Wapello.
