Lloyd Mahlon Godwin, age 93, of Wapello, Iowa, died Thursday afternoon, October 24, 1991, at the Wapello Nursing & Care Center.

He was born August 16, 1898 in Guthrie County, Iowa, the son of George and Elizabeth Blackburn Godwin. On September 29, 1920, he married Mary L. Campbell at Wapello. She died March 6 1990.

Mr. Godwin had farmed in the following Iowa communities of Redfield, Oakville, Morning Sun, Keosauqua, and wapello. He was a graduate of the Dexter High School. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Morning Sun.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Brown of Wapello and Kathryn Lauderback of Hillsboro, Missouri; one son H. Eugene Godwin of Moline, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; one grandson; one sister, and two brothers.

Funeral service for Lloyd Godwin was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 1991 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Young officiating. Phyllis McCulley provided the organ Music. Casket bearers were John Godwin, Steve Godwin, Dave Godwin, Bruce Godwin, Tim Yohe, and Richard Brannen. Burial followed at the Elmwood Cemetery at Morning Sun. A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the United Methodist Church at Morning Sun. The family met with friends Saturday evening at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.
