Jewell Dowell, 47, of Route 3, Burlington, died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 1991, at University Hospitals,Iowa City.

Born May 9, 1944 in Louisa County, she was the daughter of Floyd and Leitha Boden Hall. She married Richard Dowell on Oct. 22, 1966, at Washington, Iowa.

She was a medical assistant and a homemaker and enjoyed traveling and cooking. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mediapolis.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Brett Dowell, Trenton, and Kevin Dowell, Burlington; two daughters, Schlena Dowell, Olds, and Christina Dowell, Burlington; her mother, Washington; four sisters, Melba Grimm, Wapello, June Keopping, Sioux City, Peggy Buffington, Washington, and Joyce Linthician, Palestine, Texas; two brothers, Herb Hall, Normal, Ill., and Wendell Hall, Packwood; and six grandchildren.

The family received friends Friday at Lunning Chapel.

The service for Mrs. Dowell was at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Gary Biggs officiating. Burial was in Aspen Grove cemetery.
