Mrs. Elsie M. Biggerstaff, Morning Sun, died Saturday, Nov. 23, in Sunrise Terrace, Winfield nursing home.

She was born in Louisa County July 16, 1895, to Elmer and Sophia Anderson Swanson. She married Harry Biggerstaff June 15, 1924, in Brush, Colo.; he died March 30, 1976.

The couple lived in Colorado, Montana, and Missouri before coming to the Morning Sun community to farm. Mrs. Biggerstaff was a member of the United Presbyterian church.

Surviving: A son, Lester, Morning Sun; a brother, Ralph Swanson, Mediapolis; a sister, Vera Callahan Willson, Albia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 26 at Pierce Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Wigand officiated. Pallbearers were Harold Chrissinger, Donald Bowers, Merle Enke, Robert Samuels, Nelson Cowles and Leslie Meeker. Bonnie Bowers and Janet Enke assisted with flowers, Geneva Samuels was organist. Rosemary Schneider was vocalist. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun, Ia. A memorial has been established.
