Richard Brooks Grouwinkel, age 46, passed away Friday, June 22 following a 10-month battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Manhattan Beach as the youngest of five siblings, and attended Mira Costa High School and El Camino College. At the time of his death he was employed as a Project Manager by Turner Construction.

Rick is survived by his wife, Karen Grouwinkel and their children, Connor and Claire of Redondo Beach; his mother, Marj Grouwinkel-Nooteboom of San Clemente; his brother, Greg Grouwinkel of Manhattan Beach; his sisters, Nina Matthies (Dan) of Malibu, Kim Willeman (Larry) of Redondo Beach, and Cindy Jouras (Nick) of Soquel. His father, Frank Grouwinkel died in 1990. Rick will also be greatly missed by his wife’s parents, Tom and Helen Cooke, his 10 nieces and nephews, his co-workers, and his many many friends. Donations to the American Cancer Society are welcome. Rick was the grandson of the late George and Kathryn Grouwinkel who lived in this area
