Mrs. O.C. Buffington Called By Death

Mrs. Lois Azalia Buffington died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 1972, at the Morning Sun Manor where she had resided since 1968. She was 88 years, 8 months and 11 days of age.

She was born February 3, 1884, in Columbus Junction, the daughter of Alvin and Isabelle Hester Jennings. She married Orie Carl Buffington on July 9, 1902 at her home in Spring Run Community. He preceded her in death November 26, 1952.

Mrs. Buffington was a life time resident of the Spring Run community and was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church. For a number of years she was the correspondent from that community for the Columbus Gazette.

She is survived by four sons, Gerald and Kenneth of Columbus Junction; Rex of Wapello; and Layton of Crawfordsville; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Davis of Crawfordsville; 23 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; three brothers, Boyd, Donald and Jeff Jennings, all of Columbus Junction; and one sister, Mrs. Verdie Buffington of Winfield.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Earl Clinton and Rodney Burl died in infancy, and one brother, Bruce Jennings.

Funeral services were held at the Spring Run United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday conducted by Rev. Robert Wilcox. Music was by Mrs. Roger Davis and Mrs. Robert Buffington. Flower attendants were Mrs. Vernon Wiley and Mrs. Marlan Braet. Casket bearers were Merlin Davis, Delbert, Robert, Marvin, Edward and Phillip Buffington.

Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery in charge of the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home.
