Herbert T. Hall, 78, of Normal, Ill., went to be with the Lord at 5:48 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14th at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Normal, Ill. Burial was in the East Twin Grove Cemetery in Bloomington, Ill., with military rites accorded by the Carl S. Martin Post No. 653, Normal, Ill. The family requested no flowers. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Normal, Ill. Arrangements were made by Calvert and Metzler Memorial Home, in Bloomington, Ill.

Herb was born on January 13, 1929 in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the third of nine children of Floyd and Letha (Boden) Hall. He married Burnette Bargar on August 18, 1951, in Winfield. They had celebrated 55 years together in 2006.

Mr. Hall served in the Army in Japan during the occupation forces. He later went to Barber College in Peoria, Ill. He celebrated 50 years as a barber in 2006. He owned and operated barbershops in Pekin, Pontiac, and Bloomington-Normal, Ill. He had many hobbies, including flying his own airplane, woodworking, playing guitar and harmonica, gardening and traveling. He was an avid reader. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Normal, Ill. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Pamela (Steven) Schwartz of Carmel, Ind., Joni (Rev. Mark) Thrift of Houston Texas, and Cathy (John) Nottoli of Normal, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Brad Simpson, Andrea Feit, Shelly (Gary) Brittain, Jason Vandegraft, Rachel (Matthew) Smith, Crystal (Doug) Brittain, Robert Thrift, Tyler Schwartz, and Austin Schwartz; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Melba (Neil) Grim, June Koepping, Peggy (Robert) Buffington, and Joyce Linthocun; and one brother Wendell (Barb) Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alfred and Gary Hall; and one sister, Jewell Dowell.
