Twyla C. Holland, 90, of Columbus Junction, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.
Graveside services were Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the Greenview Memorial Gardens Cemetery of East Moline, Illinois. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Twyla’s name. Sympathy notes may be left to the Holland family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Twyla Catherine Morse was born July 9, 1916 in Louisa County, Iowa, the daughter of Aura and Gusta (Berkshire) Morse. Twyla was a 1934 graduate of Cotter School. On November 5, 1941 Twyla was united in marriage to Samuel Holland. They lived their married life in Colona, Illinois. Twyla attended the First Presbyterian Church in Milan, Illinois, where she was a member of the Quilting Club Covergirls.

Twyla made every niece and nephew a hand stitched quilt and one for many of her great-nieces and nephews. She worked for the G&A Mallard Janitorial Services working a lot in the Modern Woodman Building. Twyla loved to camp and travel and visited each of the continental United States. She belonged to a camping club in Iowa and the Fort Armstrong Camping Club. Following Sam’s death, Twyla moved back to the Columbus Junction area.

Twyla will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, LeRoy Van Auken and wife, Sharon of Columbus Junction, Ronnie Van Auken and wife, Ruth of Winfield, Larry Van Auken of Andalusia, Il., Elaine Baker and husband, Bill of rural Columbus Junction, Janet Hightower and husband, Bill of Burlington, IA and Robert Morse and wife, Cindy of Winfield; and her sister-in-law, Pauline Morse of Columbus Junction.

Twyla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Rex Morse; 3 sisters, Gwendolyn Mullen, Lenore Van Auken and Nettie Irene Nelson; and a niece, Jane Wheeler.
