Ambrose Joseph Kron, 86 of Riverside died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the Atrium Village in Hills following a brief illness.
Mass of the Resurrection was held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 9, 2006 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. Rev. Rich Adam officiated the services. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Riverside. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Ambrose. Sympathy notes may be left for the Kron family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com

Ambrose Joseph Kron was born on September 29, 1919 on the family farm in Washington County the son of Louis Martin and Leocadia (Sueppel) Kron. On September 29, 1941, Ambrose was united in marriage to Gladys Agnes Metz at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. Ambrose was a farmer in the Riverside area his entire life, he also sold Watkins Products and worked at Protein Blenders in Iowa City and Riverside. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, Catholic Foresters, Knights of Columbus, a social member of the Riverside V.F.W. Post 6414 and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed playing in euchre tournaments in Riverside, Hills and Richmond, but most of all; Ambrose dearly loved to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ambrose will be deeply missed by his two sons, Louis Kron and his wife, Pam of Riverside and Dennis Kron of Sun Prairie, WI; seven daughters, Karen Boddicker and her special friend, Rick Achenbach of Cedar Rapids, LeAnn Walsh and her husband, Gary of Riverside, Rita Foley and her husband, Bob of Iowa City, Mary Jane Stumpf and her husband, Terry of Riverside, Betty Hayes and her husband, Duane of Washington, Doris Mougin and her husband, Dale of Columbus Junction and Lois Kasdorf and her husband, Nathan of Riverside; one son-in-law, Craig Regennitter of Bennett; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmo Kron and his wife, Virginia of Riverside; two sisters-in-law, Tish Sahs (Cletus) of Ricmond, and Leona Kron (Cleo) of Iowa City; and one sister, Lucille Knebel of Hills.

Ambrose was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys in 2004; one son, Joe, one daughter, Elaine Regennitter; one infant granddaughter; Amy Reginnetter; and two brothers, Cleo and Cletus; and one brother-in-law, Louie Knebel.
