Kenneth Laird Buffington, 71, of Route 2, Columbus Junction, died April 9, 1985, at University Hospital, Iowa City.

He was born April 17, 1913, in the Spring Run Community, the son of Ora Carl and Lois Jennings Buffington. He married Dorothy Peters on November 22, 1934, at Davenport. He was a graduate of Wyman School and had farmed in the area all his life. He was a member of the Iowa Farm Bureau and the Spring Run United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Karen, of Burlington; two sons, Delbert of Wapello and Gary of Winfield; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald of Columbus Junction and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Davis of Washington.

His parents, four brothers and a grandchild preceded him in death.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Spring Run United Methodist Church with Rev. Brown Garlock officiating. Donna Belle Hughes was organist and Mrs. Roger Davis was vocalist.

Casket bearers were Edward, Robert, Marvin and Phillip Buffington and Merlin and Roger Davis. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery in charge of the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home.
