Levi Whitaker

Oakville - Levi Whitaker, 94, died Friday, May 4, at the home of his son, Charles Whitaker, at Oakville.

He was born March 27, 1890, at Columbus Junction, to John Thomas and Lucetta Nott Whitaker. He married Bessie Whisler in October 1910 at Muscatine; she died June 10, 1920. Mr. Whitaker married Esther Rice Oct. 10, 1921, at Muscatine; she died Dec. 10, 1978.

Mr. Whitaker was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Church of God (Holiness).

Surviving: Three sons, Charlie, Hilbert, and Alfred, all of Oakville; three daughters, Mary Peck, Ft. Scott, Kan., Lucetta Clevenger, Hiawatha, and Edna Whitaker, Oakville; 24 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Dudgeon - McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, the Rev. E.L. Bowlyou; Edwards Cemetery. A memorial for the Church of God (Holiness) has been established.
