Clayton Worley
Clayton Worley, 100, of Columbus Junction, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction, after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 28, 1900, in Conesville, he was the son of Loran and Clara Robinson Worley. He first married Dorothy Beliel. She preceded him in death. He married Alice VanWinkle Arington on July 17, 1946, in Kahoka, Mo. She died May 23, 1984.
Mr. Worley farmed in the Columbus Junction area and worked for 14 years for the Rock Island Railroad.
Survivors include five sons, Verle and Lester, both of Washington, Iowa, Kenneth of Burlington, Rayford of Jefferson City, Mo., and Jim of Iowa City; one daughter, Doris Mineart of Fairfield; one stepdaughter, Donna Beason of Ankeny; one brother, Milton of Arcadia, Ind.; two sisters, Wilma Wilson of Gravois Mills, Mo., and Anita Truitt of Sallisaw, Okla.; 36 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters and one son.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction.
The funeral for Mr. Worley will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Colonial Manor Care Center
