H. Lorena Boysen, age 79, of Morning Sun, IA and more recently a resident at the Wapello Nursing and Care Center, died Saturday morning, October 12, 1996 at the Muscatine General Hospital, Muscatine, IA.

The daughter of Harry and Hazel Jones Fletcher, she was born March 27, 1917, at Cairo, IA. She married Albert C. Boysen on February 23, 1937 at Cairo. He died October 15, 1965.

She was a homemaker and had worked at the Kingsbury Inn, the Capitol cafe, the IAAP, and for several years at the Colonial Manor, Columbus Junction. She had been a member of the Cairo Evangelical Church. She was a member of the Wapello VFW Ladies Auxillary. She had also been active as a 4-H leader and with the Louisa County Farm Bureau.

She enjoyed gardening and helping on the farm, cooking, nature, nursing home residents, her grandchildren, sports, crafts, and more notably making people laugh with her clever wit.

Survivors include a daughter, Hazel Anderson, Co. Jct.; two sons, Harold E. Boysen, Morning Sun and Larry Boysen, Wapello; six grandchildren, David Boysen, Rhonda Pritchard, Brenda Wade, Aaron Boysen, Duane Boysen, and Adam Boysen; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Humphreys, Col. Jct. and Verlee Stewart, Burlington; and two brothers, Ronald Fletcher, Grants, New Mexico and Feryl Fletcher, Los Angeles, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert, an infant son; a great-grandson; three sisters, Geneva, Nelda, and Ruth; two brothers, Harold and Robert; and a special friend, Gene Isett.

The family met with friends Monday evening at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Lorena Boysen was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 1996 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with the Rev. Eric Oliver officiating, and Aaron Boysen sharing memories. Music was provided by Pamela Butler, organist, and Wayne Gieselman, vocalist.

Burial followed at the Columbus City Cemetery. The casket bearers were her grandchildren. Honorary bearers included John Cutkomp, Edlef Boysen, Raymond West, and Tim Robbins.
