Harry W. Boyd Died In Accident

Harry W. Boyd, 71, Ainsworth was killed approximately 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 1978, when he lost control of the truck he was driving about 6 miles east of Columbus Junction on Highway 92.

He was taken by Stacy-Lewis Ambulance to Columbus Medical Facility and died enroute. He was pronounced dead by Dr. Kenneth Carrell.

The truck driven by Boyd was going eastbound when it went over the shoulder of the road and rolled into a ditch. Boyd was thrown from the truck and was pinned under the vehicle, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. this Thursday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery.

He was a truck driver for many years with Weber & Huston, and was driving one of their trucks at the time of the accident. He was also a driver for many years with the Columbus Schools.

Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Roberta) Bell, Columbus Junction, and Mrs. Sherman (Betty Lou) Burns, Maquoketa; a son Da_ Columbus Junction; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Harold (Elma) Mitchell, College Springs, Iowa; brother, Harold, Washington, Iowa.
