Ben Bowdre dies at Veterans Hospital

Ben Bowdre, 66, of Davenport, died Monday evening, February 23, 1981, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 27, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Rev.A.L. Meyers officiated with burial in the Wapello Cemetery.

He was born November 11, 1914, at Farragut to Claude and Anna Walker Bowdre. He married Cora Brown March 19, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas.

He retired in 1977 after 25 years in the shipping department of Alcoa, Davenport. He was a member of West Side Assembly of God Church and Quad-Cities Federation of Labor, both at Davenport. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Derrell Bowdre of Wapello.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
