CHARLES W. COURTNEY DIES

Charles Wesley Courtney passed away at the county home October 10, 1928, at 1:20 p.m. after an illness of many years with tuberculosis. He was born in Missouri near Kirksville and was united in marriage to Miss Amora Klingsmith in September 1907. To this union twelve children were born. He had two children by a former marriage. He is survived by seven children, Mrs. Lena Ashby of Oakville, Iowa, Mrs. Grace Tisor of Altona, Illinois, Ruby, Edith, Violet, Bert and David Courtney all of Davenport. Two brothers, Bert and George of Kirksville, Missouri, also survive. Mr. Courtney had lived in Louisa County the past twenty years.

The body was laid to rest in Port Louisa Cemetery.

Note: Charles' wife was given as Amora in the obituary but in fact her name was Aurora (my great-grandmother)
