Muscatine Journal, May 8, 1989

Eldon W. Blake, 74, 1217 Dale St., died early today at St. Luke's Hospital, Davenport.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Walnut Park Baptist Church. The Rev. Eugene Mohr will officiate.

Mrs. Wesley Herwig will be organist. Mrs. Ed Holtz will be vocalist.

Pallbearers will be Russell Howard, Ralph Knapp, Donald Anderson, Larry Yocum and Leethon and Hylan Phillips. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Walnut Park Baptist Church.

Mr. Blake was born June 21, 1914 at Letts, a son of Austin and Eunice Wagner Blake. He was a life resident of the area.

On Feb. 24, 1933, he was united in marriage to Anna Mildred Peters at Rock Island.

He attended the Walnut Park Baptist Church. He had worked at International Harvester Farmall Works for 31 years prior to his retirement in 1974.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; one son, Harold A. of Muscatine; three daughters, Sharon Skow, Mrs. Ralph (Kathy) Meyer and Shirley Truitt, all of Muscatine; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three daughters, one grandchild and one sister.
