Joe Everett Boyd dies June 29

Joe Everett Boyd, 74, of rural Columbus Junction, died Wednesday evening, June 29, at Burlington Medical Center, following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Richard _aris officiating. Mrs. Jerry Gerot as organist. Casket bearers were Bud Speth, Doug Boyd, Steve Boyd, Rusell Bean, Tony Morrison and Mike Williams. Burial was in Indian Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Boyd was born January 20, 1909, in Conesville, the son of Hugh and Carrie Leffler Boyd. He married Nellie Bennett January 29, 1935, at Muscatine. He had farmed in the Indian Creek community and operated Boyd's Custom Butchering.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Patrick Boyd of Grandview; one daughter Sharon Boyd of Columbus Junction; three grandchildren; three brothers, Willie of Fredonia, Jess of Placerville, California, and Donald of Wapello; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Callie) Hesseltine of Columbus Junction and Mrs. Ray (Ethel) Campbell of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
