Leroy "Roy" Best, 66, a resident of the Wapello Nursing Home, and formerly of 601 E. 5th St., died Sunday morning at Muscatine General Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Jeffrey S. Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Indian Creek Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Best was born Nov. 1, 1923 at Deadwood, S.D., a son of Walter and Mildred Best. He had lived here for most of his life.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred Miller, of Florida; two sons, Darrel and Frederick, both of Muscatine; two daughters, Janet Sommers, of East Moline; and Barbara Best, Muscatine; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd, of South Dakota; and Fredrick, of Ohio; and one sister, Gladys Best, of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and one granddaughter.
