Arthur Bolton dies in Wapello

Arthur Ivano Bolton, 83, of Wapello, died Friday, September 7, 1984, at Wapello.

The funeral was Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Wapello. The Rev. Richard Smith was in charge. Visitation was at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home and burial was in Ipava, Illinois.

Mr. Bolton was born July 5, 1901, at Ipava, the son of I.J. and Clara Hanson Bolton. He married Ruth France December 25, 1927. She died in 1971. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wapello Kiwanis, and Ducks Unlimited.

He had taught in the Wapello School District from 1966-1971 and was mayor of Wapello from 1972-1977.

Surviving are a son, Bryce Bolton of Issaquah, Washington; a daughter, Joyce Mattson of Joppa, Maryland; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Frances Lyons of Waukegan, Illinois.
