Ruth Rachel Bond, age 102, died November 13, 2000, at the Morning Sun Care Center, Morning Sun, Iowa, where she was a resident.

Ruth Rachel Thornton was the daughter of John and Emma Butcher Thornton, born June 21, 1898, at Muscatine, Iowa. She married Chester Bond on October 24, 1917, at Wapello. He died April 20, 1974.

Ruth had four children given to adoption, of which two daughters survive, Leotta Kiefer of Central City, Iowa and Fancelia Monteleone of Corning, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sons.

Graveside services were held at 1:30 pm November 15, at the Columbus City Cemetery.

The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home of Wapello provided the care and arrangements.
