Borchardt dies Friday

Eugene H. Borchardt, 82, 516 South Dodge Street, Iowa City, died Friday morning, May 29, 1987, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a short illness.

Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Snider Funeral Home in West Liberty with the Rev. Allan Eastland and Ruth Raun officiating. Mr. Les VerHelst was organist, with Rev. Allan Eastland as soloist. Pallbearers were: Keith Borchart, James A. Clark, Ronald L.Greene, Jeffrey J. Greene, Larry R. Greene, Evan W. Gamon, Paul Quintero, Gene Kroeger, and Raymond Porter. Burial was in the North Prairie Cemetery near West Liberty.

Mr. Borchardt was born January 28, 1905, in LeMars, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Ferch Borchardt. He married Helen Maire Rummells in Sioux City on October 15, 1926. He had been a resident of Iowa City since 1965. The winter months he had lived in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was a member of the West Palm Beach, Florida, First Methodist Church. He was a farmer and was in the agricultural land business.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Preston (Joyce) Edmondson and Mrs. Wayne (Edonna) Gamon, both of Washington; five grandchildren Evan and Angela Gamon; Ronald, Jeffrey and Larry Greene; two great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
