Funeral services for Donald L. and Jayanna Lee Parks Borkowski, honeymooning couple from Mt. Vernon, Iowa, who were killed in an auto crash at Sigurd, Utah, Tuesday August 29, 1978, were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the George L. Gay Funeral Home at Iowa City.

Mrs. Borkowski was buried in Salem Cemetery north of Haskins, and Mr. Borkowski was taken to an Audubon cemetery.

Mrs. Borkowski, a daughter of John and Roberta Steele Parks, was the granddaughter of Mrs. Carl Steele of Columbus Junction. She had graduated from Kirkwood Community College, after completing study in respiratory therapy and was employed at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Mr. Borkowski was employed at Wilson Packing in that city.

They had been married August 26 in Iowa City and had left on a wedding trip when a van sideswiped a pickup truck and then smashed head-on into their van on Highway 89. The young couple and a passenger, Jean M. Pohlman of Huntington, Ind., were killed instantly.
