Velma Gladys Boulton, age 78, of Muscatine, Iowa, died April 10, 1999, at Community Health Resources, Muscatine.

Velma Gladys Wasson was born June 28, 1920, at Nichols, Iowa, the daughter of George William and Hazel Wroe Wasson. She married Floyd Burdette Boulton on January 31, 1942, at Columbia, Missouri.

Velma was a 1937 graduate of Columbus Junction Community High School. She was a Past Marshal and Matron of Eastern Star; past member of the White Shrine of Davenport and the Moose Lodge in Muscatine; member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Velma worked for Dr. House as an insurance clerk for several years and at Sears & Roebuck as a telephone operator for 10 years, but her main love was being a wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband; three sons and their wives; Steven and Elizabeth of Tema, Guana, Africa, Richard and Caroline, Blue Springs, MO., David of Muscatine; and one daughter, Ann Jones of Muscatine. There are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Elsie Campbell of Marion, Kentucky and Darlene Carr of Mattoon IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Katherine Kay.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine. Burial was at the Columbus City Cemtery.

A memorial has been established for the American Heart association.
