Allie Lydia Berkshire, 97, of Fairfield, died at 7:56 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 1992, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

She was born May 2, 1895, in Louisa County, the daughter of Thomas and Lydia A. Wiltrout George. She married Gay T. Berkshire on August __, 1914, in Muscatine, and he died September 13, 1951.

Allie was a homemaker and had lived in Fairfield since 1952 with previous residence in Washington and Louisa Counties and Birmingham from 1934 to 1952.

She was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Columbus City.

Surviving is a daughter, Ferne M. Lawson, Fairfield; and a granddaughter Gayle A. Lawson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and a half brother.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Be_____ Funeral Home in Fairfield, with Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Burial was in Columbus City Cemetery, Columbus City, at 2:30 p.m.
