Martha Bell dies after extended illness

Martha Elizabeth Bell, 62, of rural Columbus Junction, died at 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, 1983, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Denley Ganfield and Rev. Darrel Robertson officiating. Music was by Donna Bell Huges and Brian Cummings.

Casket bearers were Kenneth White. Donald Grunder, Arthur Pugh, Kenneth Peters, Cecil Bryant and Paul Bailey. Flower attendants were Chrissy Bell, Julie McKean, Toni Meyrer and Fay Jay. Burial was in Columbus City Cemetery.

She was born November 15, 1920, at Muscatine, the daughter of Raymond and Rhea White Duncan. She married Donald B. Bell in October 1941, at Kahoka, Missouri.

Mrs. Bell was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the Emma Beckman chapter of O.E.S. She had been employed at Duncan Motors until her retirement.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Michael of LeClaire, Iowa and Samuel of Columbus Junction; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Nancy) McKean of Donahue, Iowa; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and her father.

Her mother preceded her in death.
