LIFELONG RESIDENT DIES AFTER LENGTHY ILLNESS

Mrs. Belle Beckey, 83, lifelong resident of this community died at the Jones nursing home in Muscatine Friday morning after an extended illness.

Mrs. Beckey was born in Grandview Dec. 6, 1867, a daughter of William Levi and Elizabeth Teets. She was married to Jacob Beckey at the Island Methodist church May 6, 1884.

Ten grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren are the only survivors. Her husband, four sons and two daughters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 19, in the Grandview Community church of which she was a member, with the Rev. Caleb Larson officiating. Burial was in the Grandview cemetery.
