Services: 4:30 p.m. today, First United Presbyterian Church, Morning Sun. Visitation was: Sunday, March 19, Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Morning Sun.

MORNING SUN, Iowa - Freeda Leota Beck, 92, Morning Sun, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at the Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.

Ramona Wink will officiate. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun.

A memorial fund has been established for the First United Presbyterian Church Sunday School Project.

Mrs. Beck was born Jan. 31, 1914, in Thornburg, Iowa, the daughter of Sydney E. and May Higgins Moore. She married Charles H. Beck on April 7, 1939, in Yarmouth, Iowa.

She graduated from Thornburg High School and received her normal teaching training from Iowa State Teachers College. In later years, she received her bachelor's degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. She was an elementary school teacher for about 31 years, teaching mostly first grade in Yarmouth and Morning Sun.

She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Morning Sun, where she had been in the the choir and was an elder and member of the Coininia Sunday school class. She was a member of the P.E.O. in Wapello and the Louisa county Historical Society. She enjoyed birds, snowmen and goats. She loved providing a good home with cooking, gardening and music. She was always ready to go wherever her husband would go.

Survivors include her husband; a son, David Beck and wife Sherry of Oconomowoc, Wis.; a daughter, Kathie Beck and Stephen Barns of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Barns, Heather Miller and Heidi Kraut; and a sister, Joan Hotop of Washington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dale and Hale.
