Rick G. Beard, age 41, of Fairfield, Iowa and formerly of Wapello, died Thursday morning, August 29, 1996 at his home from a sudden heart attack. The son of Raymond and Delores Croslin Beard, he was born April 18, 1955 at Burlington. He married Kathy (Gerst) Fletcher on September 17, 1983 at Wapello.

Rick was a graduate of Wapello High School in 1973. He moved to Fairfield in 1993 where he was the General Manager for Krieger Motor Co. at Fairfield and more recently he was the Regional Manager of Brownfield Oil C. of Moberly, Missouri.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Fairfield. He had served as a Councilman at Wapello.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; his parents, Raymond and Delores Beard of Wapello; a son, Eric Beard of Fairfield; two daughters, Ruthann and Michelle Beard of Morning Sun; three stepsons, Dave Fletcher, Bobby Fletcher and his wife Holly, and Kenny Fletcher; one granddaughter, Charlie Kay Fletcher; a brother, John Beard and his wife Sherri of Moberly, Missouri; and a niece, Shawn Marie Beard.

Friends called on Saturday, August 31, 1996 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, where the family met friends in the evening.

A Memorial Fund has been established.

Cremation followed and there was no other services.

Honorary friends included Doug Wagg, Roger Richers, Dan Heater, Gary Spitznogle, Dave Howerton, Kirk Heater, Larry Dale Ashland, and Richard Allen Beard.
