Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Sept 7, Honts Funeral Home, Winfield. Visitation: noon-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, funeral home. The family will meet with friends from 4-7 p.m.

COLUMBUS JUNCTION,Iowa - Stanley Duane Bean, 78, of Columbus Junction, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at his home.

Interment will follow at the Columbus City cemetery.

A general memorial has been established.

Mr. Bean was born Sept. 4. 1928, in Washington, the son of Norman and Francis (Eden) Bean.

He married Mildred Gerling July 17, 1949 in Grandview.

He attended country school and farmed for 56 years. He also worked at Heinz and GPC in Muscatine.

He enjoyed driving the truck for Menke-Hoyer Auction Service, attending farm sales, farm progress shows, bailing hay, sitting on the porch swing and collecting and driving Farmall tractors and old Chevy trucks.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Russ and Joan Bean of Kalona, Rodney and Lori Bean of Ainsworth, Terry and Lisa Bean of Columbus Junction, Jim Bean and friend, Diane Russell, of Conesville and Tom and Laurie Bean of Columbus Junction; three daughters, Janet Grimm and friend, Ron Hobbs, of Kalona, Jeanette and Jimmy Graves of Columbus Junction; and Janelle and Tom Clark of Columbus Junction; 12 granchildren;

two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Danny, Wallace, Jerry and Larry Bean; and a sister, Beverly Pershy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald; a brother, Bernard; three sisters, Genveva Gerling, Mary Kiesey and Phyllis Haury; and two grandsons, Jeremy Grimm and Jeff Bean.
