Columbus Gazette, July 20, 1995

Funeral services for 18 year old Jeffrey Lynn Bean, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, were held on Monday, July 17, 1995, at 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Officiating were Rev. Walden Paige and Mark Long. Music was by Sara Hungate McCleary. Burial was in the columbus City Cemetery. Honorary casketbearers were: Donnie Bean, Joe Bean, Jim Bean, Russell Bean, Terry Bean, Tom Bean, and Gary Bean. Casketbears were: Kent Brown, Eli Hoag, Joe Loyd, Sam Clark, Mike Robinson, and Jeremy Smith.

Jeff died on Thursday, July 13, 1995, at the Muscatine General Hospital, from an apparent drowning. A memorial has been established at the funeral home.

Jef was born October 20, 1976, in Washington, Iowa. Jesf was a 1995 graduate of Columbus Comunity School where he had been a member of F.F.A. He was employed as a shag driver for TCCS. Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing and all outdoor activities.

Survivors include: his parents, Jim and Jeanette Graves, Columbus Junction; his sister, Joanne Bean, columbus Junction; his maternal grandparents, Stanley and Mildren Bean of Columbus Junction, his paternal grandparents, Lucy Porter, Gastonia, North Carolina, and Larry Graves, Milan, Illinois; his paternal great-grandparents, Jim and Doroty Graves, Muscatine and Neva Emrick, Ainsworth, Iowa; and Jeff's girlfriend, Monica Brister, Temple, Oklahoma. There are seven uncles and two aunts, and numerous cousins in the area.

Jeff was preceded in death by an uncle, Ronald Bean and great-grandparents, Norman and Frances Bean, Fred and Ester Gerling and Orville Emrick.
