Faye Cummings Bazel, age 102, of Morning Sun, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at the Morning Sun Care Center. The daughter of Thomas Z. and Trina Danielson Cummings, she was born Feb. 19, 1902, at Northfield, Iowa. On March 10, 1931, she married Wyman Bazel, who died in June of 1974.

She was a graduate of the Mediapolis High School. She worked as a cook for the HiWay pantry in Wapello and the Wapello Cafe for several years. She was a caregiver for her family.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun, and was a member of the Century Club of Iowa. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, flowers, gardening and kittens.

Survivors include three first cousins, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.

The funeral service for Faye Bazel was Sunday at the Morning Sun First United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Mel Miller officiating. Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun.

The family met with friends Sunday from 1:30 until the time of the service.

Memorials for the Morning Sun Ambulance Service and the Morning Sun First United Presbyterian Church have been established.

Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun was in charge of arrangements.
